DIGITAL ART

In 2020, Smith began incorporating digital art into her practice, starting with photogrammetry experiments before exploring gaming technology.

By utilizing the glitches and misinformation generated by vintage scanners, she created digital artworks that initially felt like failures. Later, she understood that they were technology’s interpretation of her artwork. These unexpected distortions became a critical exploration within her practice, reflecting the interplay between humans and machines.

Smith frequently collaborates with painters to add colour to her digital works, combining traditional disciplines with the digital space. Each digital artwork informs the evolution of her practice, creating a lineage connecting her sculptures, paintings, prints, and digital art.
