IM NOT DONE WITH MICHELANGELO

Upon reflection on my previous post about the Michelangelo Exhibition at the British Museum, I feel I may have been too harsh.

Perhaps I (as we all are) am too spoilt with the visual and intellectual delights of the modern day. Yes, I have talented friends who can produce work of the same standard, but only through the historical context that Michelangelo brought. He, like many of his fellow creatives and thinkers, was setting the path to the rise of a new political leadership - the creation of the protestant church.

Through creativity, intellect and inventive thinking, the publishing industry was born to spreed the new word of the protestant church. It was probably seen as the dark evil web and began to form a small group of disruptors who didn’t want to gain social approval or connection currency to the catholic church.

It makes me ruminate on the division humans are so happy to cause and accept.

Shouldn't we try to practice diplomacy when we come together to achieve a united goal or tell a united story? It is not a skill that comes naturally, as I feel we humans have instincts to protect ourselves and our tribes more than to negotiate with a potential threat.

What if we could all collectivly realise that non of us need be a threat or be threating if we all united in the same aim, there wouldnt be a need for conflict, greed or ego.

Perhaps this is the almighty goal of ‘world peace’ I’m contemplating.
